I created Sleepy Scientist for one simple reason:
I’m passionate about helping people to get better sleep.
Hello and welcome!
I’m Dr Chelsie Rohrscheib, an American sleep expert, neuroscientist, and sleep consultant with over 10 years of experience in the field of sleep. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science with Honours and a PhD in Neuroscience with a specialty in sleep genetics.
My Previous Work
I previously worked as a research scientist for several years at the prestigious Queensland Brain Institute at the University of Queensland in Australia. During my research, I focused on the effects of sleep deprivation on brain function and health.
As a sleep scientist, I have broad expertise on all topics related to sleep including sleep deprivation, sleep disorders, and sleep medicine. One of my main interests is how sleep loss and fatigue affect mental health and contribute to chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
My Day Job
I’m currently a specialist sleep consultant at Circadian Australia where I work with individuals that have a wide range of sleep issues. I’m especially interested in helping adolescents achieve better sleep habits during their critical period of brain development.
A Little More About Me
Besides living and breathing all things sleep, you can usually find me cuddling up to my cats (who are probably sleeping) and enjoying a good book!
